The Effect of Kinesio Taping Over the Gluteal Muscles on Activity and Participation in Children with Unilateral Cerebral Palsy: A Preliminary Randomized Controlled Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Insufficiencies of gluteus medius and maximus muscles in children with unilateral cerebral palsy (CP) may restrict activity participation by affecting gait, gross motor functions, balance. Objectives: The present study aimed to elucidate the effect Kinesio taping (KT) applied on CP. Methods: was completed 20 CP who were randomly divided into 2 groups: KT group received physiotherapy (n = 11), control only 9). application administered for 4 weeks. evaluated a BTS G-Walk Spatiotemporal Gait Analysis System, Timed Up Go test (TUG), Functional Mobility Scale (FMS), Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM), Pediatric Balance (PBS); addition, using Canadian Occupational Performance (COPM). Results: showed significant improvements gait parameter (cadence; P 0.009), pelvic tilt symmetry (P 0.017), rotation 0.018), < 0.001), FMS 0.07), TUG, GMFM, PBS, COPM scores 0.001) medium-term compared group. It also found that 0.004) functional mobility improved immediate term than Conclusions: combined conventional can improve cadence term, as well symmetry, mobility, function, balance, medium Further randomized controlled studies addressing large samples long-term effects are warranted.

Background and Objective: Cerebral palsy is a non-progressive disorder of posture and motor status caused by various factors and can cause childhood disabilities and abnormalities like flat foot deformity. Kinesio Taping is a typical technique that helps relieve pain, relax muscles, and increase proprioception. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Kinesio Taping on the...

For the study, researchers randomly divided the children into three groups and employed NDT to all of the children four times a week for four weeks. Children in the first group (control group) did not receive any other therapy, while children in the second group received KT, and children in the third group received NMES. The team then analyzed the sitting ability of the children using the gross...
